This year's NCAA tournament was a pretty amazing one to watch. The Final Four is now officially set and we have ended up with four really great teams, that all happen to be conference winners: Kansas, Villanova, Loyola Ramblers and Michigan. This is also the first time in 5 years that all the teams have a 30 win seasons. So no matter what happens, all of them are champions. There is no shame in losing after you get to the Final Four.
First off, Loyola-Chicago is my pick to win the tournament. They're only the fourth 11th seeded team in the tournament's history to make it this far, let alone the Final Four. That makes them a underdog story, which I can't help but to root for. There's only one problem though, they will have to face off with Michigan. There is no sleeping on the Wolverines. They had a really impressive Big 10 tournament run. I honestly wouldn't mind if either team won, but I have to give it to Loyola. I think they have been playing better this year. They also seem to have that important spark right now that can really make a difference during crunch time. I'll say Loyola will win this one with an 8-point spread.
As far as Kansas vs Villanova, this one seems to close to call. Two No.1 teams that have a history of making it happen. Kansas just came from an impressive overtime victory against Duke, and Villanova has just been dominating everything lately. If I had to choose between the two, I would give the (very slight) upper-hand to Villanova. They're just making all the right moves at exactly the right times. I'll say Villanova wins, but just slightly. I can see this game going into overtime.
Thought's on the matchups? I'm wondering if my predictions are unanimous, or if I'm off-base at all.
The Final Four kicks off:
Saturday, March 31st in San Antonio.
