OK. It is a week before the 2018 draft when this is posted right now.

Before this draft, everyone who wants to participate list up to 5 booms and 5 busts. The players you think will do well or not. Next year, we'll revisit and rate everyone's picks and give grades on who best predicted. I think it'll be fun. Who picked the best players? You are only allowed to pick one per position for boom and one per position for bust.

Let's see how smart everyone is!

Feel free to share and ideas you have on the draft. Maybe you think WRs are overrated or it's a great QB class or what not. I also posted a "draft grades" thread for predictions about players, teams & trades after the draft.

Very interesting. Of course my picks here will be dependent on them landing on teams that set them up for success. But here are my top 5 boom picks per position:

RB - Saquon Barkley. This is my #1 BOOM pick. Best all around talent of all the running backs in this draft. He can be a top 10 rb instantly, especially if he goes to the Browns.

QB - Josh Rosen. Tough call between the top 6 qbs going, but great accuracy and a high football IQ I think will give him a really good chance at being a great franchise player, especially if he lands in Denver.

WR - Calvin Ridley. Love the hype and skills behind this guy. Not sure where he will go. But he can be a true #1 basically anywhere. Might take a few years before he is elite though.

S - Minkah Fitzpatrick. I think this is a really underrated position to get right in the draft. If you grab an elite safety early on in the draft, your team's defense can instantly become dominant in the league. He is the best from what I can tell.

G - Quenton Nelson. Probably the most NFL ready player for his position. Good chance at multiple Pro Bowls for him.

For bust picks, I just have the one right now...

QB - Baker Mayfield. I just have a feeling he goes to the Jets, and I think he will struggle in a division with the Patriots for quite a while before he sees any real success, if any at all.

    My long term boom picks:

QB Mason Rudolph. Will be watching that selection real close. It depends on what team he goes to. But this coouuld be the next Patriot leader, after Brady leaves.. either way, I think he is undervalued as like the 6th or 7th best ranked qb in this draft right now.

CB Denzel Ward. Would be awesome if he goes to Denver. Smart replacement for Talib. But wherever he goes, I think he can become a shutdown corner in the league with time.

WR Cortland Sutton. I really like Ridley, but I think in the long term it will actually be Sutton that's remembered as the best pick for this position in this whole draft. He has all the ability to be an elite WR1. I also think he should go to the Cowboys to replace Dez.

WR DJ Moore. Have to pick another pass catcher as this guy is also super impressive to me. He kind of reminds me of Antonio Brown. That mold does really well in the NFL. If he lands on the right team with the right coach, he could be very very good. Something like Emmanuel Sanders mixed with AB.. sounds like the Steelers kind of mold, yeah? :)

DE Bradley Chubb. I'm buying the hype on this guy. Expected to go in the top 3-10, he seems like the real deal.

I'll go with just one bust and one boom pick cause some of the big names are already mentioned here..

BOOM - Roquan Smith. Outside linebacker. I think he will be a multiple time pro bowler. And it probly doesn't matter where he goes either.

BUST - Josh Allen. If the Browns take him.. I just don't see it. Arm strength isn't THAT important. The Browns need a smart QB. If he goes to the Jets, same deal. Denver, once again. Basically I'm saying if Josh Allen is taken in the top 5, he will be a bust because he won't become a franchise QB.

Courtland Sutton is still on the board.... just saying Cowboys.. but they did just likely lose Jason Witten to retirement. So maybe they eye a tight end instead?

He went to the Browns, but I agree with the rest. Not too often do these snowflake stars actually turn out like the media builds them up to be. I think he will be more of a safe, slow and steady QB. In the same thread as Alex Smith of the Chiefs. A QB who can win the game by making smart calls, but never wins the game because "it's him", if you know what I mean. He's not a game winner.

Mason Ruldolph to the Steelers. Thumbs Up They continue to be one of the best drafting teams in the league.
