The NFL's National Anthem rule change and Trump's Ignorance

So the NFL and it's owners decided to make not standing for the national anthem a fine-able offense. You can no longer protest by kneeling or sitting. You must stand.

Or, chill in the locker room until it's over. That's actually an option.

I'm not really a fan of this rule, but I get it. What I don't approve of or get in any way is President Trump's immediate response on Fox News about it:

"I think that's good," Trump said about the policy during a Thursday appearance on Fox News. "I don't think people should be staying in locker rooms but still I think it's good, you have to stand proudly for the national anthem. Or you shouldn't be playing, you shouldn't be there. Maybe you shouldn't be in the country. You have to stand proudly for the national anthem and the NFL owners did the right thing if that's what they've done."

'Maybe you shouldn't be in the country'??? That's some rude, arrogant and ignorant rhetoric right there, from our President.

I really dislike the way patriotism has infiltrated the NFL (and Nascar by the way). You shouldn't have to be blindly nationalistic to play in the NFL. And of course, you shouldn't have to be beaming with patriotism to live here either.

This entire situation is basically the summary of our country at the moment.... disgraceful. You know how to make a controversial topic more controversial? Do this. Do exactly this.

And I agree, patriotism and politics shouldn't be anywhere near the NFL or any other sport.

Most people (you know, the ones calling Kapernick a trader and a whatnot) are either not educated on the topic, or are willfully ignorant about recent history.... The NFL didn't even have players come out for the National Anthem until around 2009. That's when the Executive Branch and Department of Defense basically partnered with the NFL to plaster patriotism everywhere to raise military enrollment numbers.

It's super sad that we've gotten to this point. Drama filled, hate filled, and left or right sided (NO ONE can be open-minded, and they secretly love it) politics has spread to almost every single part of, well, everything.
