Aldo is out. Bums me out to know that. But, he was hurt anyways. So, its probably all for the best. Another day will be better for that matchup I guess. For now though, we have Chad Mendes going against Conor McGregor. And the more hype vids I watch about this fight, the more excited I get.

I think this should be a great fight. Unfortunately, I don't see it being good for the UFC at all if McGregor loses. He is so good for the brand, and such a fun guy to watch trash talk and then always back it up with beat downs. So I will be rooting for him, if only for those reasons.

How do you see this bout going down?

I'm going for McGregor to win all the way. I see this being a short match by knockout.

It was a good fight. Not going to throw out any spoilers, but it was fun to watch.

Now that a few days have gone by, those that wanted to see the fight have seen it. So I won't feel bad to say that McGregor won, and it was a fantastic fight. Mendes had 4 take downs, maybe 5. And he had McGregor on the ground, elbowing him hard to the face repeatedly for almost the entire 2nd round. McGregor then figures out a way to get out of it with just about 20 seconds or so to go in the round. Then he starts wailing punches with his long advantage reach on Mendes. His lands 2 brutal hits to the skull, and Mendes goes down for good. The ref then calls it right before the 2nd round ends.

That was the most exciting UFC fight I have seen yet, considering the hype and quality of the fighters involved. I thought it was an excellent and very interesting match-up. And it was very cool to see both Mendes and McGregor being very cordial and congratulating each other, after it was all over of course, especially considering the amount of trash talk involved beforehand. Great fight. Can't wait for Aldo/McGregor.

McGregor was right about Mendes. Conor proved that Mendes was only able to approach him one-dimensionally (take downs). But with McGregor having an 8 inch reach advantage, I don't blame him.
