Monaco Grand Prix is better than the Indy 500

As big as the Indy 500 is, I don't think it holds a candle to the Monaco Grand Prix. I don't even care about racing most of the time, until Monaco comes around. And when it's over, I go back to not caring. So, yeah. I'm no die hard auto racing fan.

But the way the Monaco course is constructed.. the turns, the tunnel, the landscape and everything, is really just badass in and of it itself to watch. Feels like it's straight out of a video game or something. I know Indy 500 is getting a lot of love right now, but just wanted to remind everyone that Monaco is also on the same day, and very likely will be much more entertaining to the more casual fan.

I know that formula 1 and Indy are different sports by design, spec vs distinctive and all that. But again, that's sorta my point. Along with the course, the cars are more interesting too.

Which one do you get more excited about? Can you make the case of Indy 500 over Monaco? Would like to hear that one.

Luckily I don't have to choose. You can watch both, basically back to back. And then some Nascar at night, if you're also into that.

For what it's worth though, I vote Indy 500. I just really appreciate what that race has done for modern car tech in general and all the history behind the race, as another poster on here outlines really well. Evolution of the Indy event is unparalleled. Not to take anything away from Monaco though. It's definitely a close second.

Psshaw, the Indy is an American past-time and is grander in scale and attendance. The Indy has been a around a lot longer. I'd rather watch a bunch of cars that look a like, instead of some Europeans driving Mercedes and Ferraris. For some reason those car makers bore me. I guess they are just too perfect of machines to make anything interesting. Give me a guy going 100 mph riding in a cardboard box attached to a skateboard any day, over watching a European space craft doing mach speed while the driver is sipping a macchiato...

Monaco is the best race, by far. There's just not a debate at all to me. One is beautiful, filled with difficult obstacles, cars look waaaay cooler, and it's more of a event. Indy is definitely an event, but more of an event that happens 35 times a year. Though I do understand why people love either.
