A pair of extreme free-climbers reached the summit of the 3,000 foot El Capitan rock in Yosemite National Park today, becoming the first two people to ever accomplish the feat. The climbers, Tommy Caldwell and Kevin Jorgeson, took nineteen days to complete their journey. Think about that for a second. Nineteen days to scale a 3,000 foot rock using nothing but your hands and feet to pull you up.

Just imagine waking up in that little tent they were sleeping in, attached by nothing but ropes and carabiners to the face of that vertical cliff, thousands of feet in the air... Awesome. And terrifying. To scale any wall in a free climb is so hard to do. Takes massive amounts of strength, and guts. These two have both in spades. The view up there must've been spectacularly gratifying, once they finally got to the top.

This is a whole lot of nope for me. Everything about that is terrifying. Even standing at the bottom of a vertical cliff like that would make my hands sweat and the dizziness would ensue. Props to them both for being much, much, much braver than me.
