NFL Preseason Games Are Not Pointless

So I hear from time to time that the NFL Preseason games are pretty much pointless. That they don't have any merit or insight to the season to come. My response? Those people must not watch football. Every single match, whether pre or post season is important. Not only because it is a pretty good view into the season to come, but because it shows you which players are in better shape as well.

Another preseason pro is for fantasy football. If you play fantasy like myself, you are desperate for any info you can get your hands on. Especially before post-season starts. You can't just rely on statistics someone wrote down in their free time. You have to see the player on the field to know if you want to draft him. You can tell by how he is playing if you want him or not.

And yes, I know that teams and players don't give it their all in the preseason. But that isn't my point. My point is that without it, we wouldn't have as much football. Without it, we wouldn't have as good of insight on our fantasy teams.

    Thought's?

My thoughts exactly. I don't get crazy excited over it. But I'll definitely watch a handful before the season starts, just to ramp up. Find out the latest team's storylines, etc. See the drafts for the first time. That's probly my favorite part, aside from the fantasy primer, like you said.

Also, for the players that get injured in the preseason, I'm sure they don't think it's pointless either. Wentz was a fan favorite to start as the Eagles QB. Now that will not happen; dude's out indefinitely with a fractured rib.

Also, the Cowboys might just have a viable backup qb in Dax Prescott, if and when Romo gets sidelined. He played great last night in the opener. Was happy to see that.
