  • Udoka Azubuike walked gingerly into Allen Fieldhouse on his sore ankle and proceeded to score a career-high 31 points with 14 rebounds, leading top-ranked Kansas to a 75-66 victory over TCU on Wednesday night to clinch at least a share of the Big 12 regular-season title.
  • Here is the college basketball AP poll, which now features the Kansas Jayhawks as the unanimous No. 1 team in the country.
  • The Phillips 66 Big 12 Basketball Championships will have a new look when March Madness begins, as the Conference will debut custom-made courts at both its men’s and women’s basketball championships in 2015. The courts are being produced as part of the overall branding initiatives that debuted for the Big 12 Conference on July 1, 2014. “We are thrilled to showcase the look of the Big 12 Conference with these custom-made basketball courts,” noted Commissioner Bob Bowlsby. “They will provide the student-athletes one of the best playing surfaces in the nation and allow fans to easily identify the Phillips 66 Big 12 Basketball Championships regardless of where they are watching.”
  • Big 12 basketball coaches have tripped over themselves talking about how strong the conference is this season. That bravado appears to be well-deserved to this point of the season with every team in the league above .500 heading into Saturday's games. "The league is playing out to be every bit as good as what everybody thought it would be," Kansas coach Bill Self said. "The depth of it is ridiculous."

We could handle this reality with cashmere mittens or simply be polite about it, but that wouldn’t serve the forthcoming point. So let’s be blunt: The Blue Demons were checked off as an easy win by virtually any opponent they faced. Along the rutted road of league play, they were the rest stop. Yet on Tuesday, there was visiting Georgetown, a club on the outskirts of the national polls and considered among the league favorites, tied with DePaul deep into the second half. The Blue Demons already had enjoyed three conference wins and a startling, if ephemeral, stay at the top of the Big East standings.
  • One True Champion. That was the slogan for the Big 12 football season. It was a lie. Two teams finished with the same record and shared the championship because the conference had no tiebreaker. There will be one true champion in Big 12 basketball. No lie. It probably will be Kansas, which has won 10 consecutive Big 12 championships and six conference tournaments during that span. On Wednesday night, the Jayhawks won their 24th consecutive conference opener dating to when they played in the Big Eight.
