What does it take to qualify as an extreme sport? Well, wiki defines it like this:
Extreme sports (also called action sports, aggro sports, and adventure sports) is a popular term for certain activities perceived as having a high level of inherent danger. These activities often involve speed, height, a high level of physical exertion, and highly specialized gear.
But for me, if I take one look at it and say 'no f#@!king way would I ever do that!', that's qualification enough. And while some of these definitely fall into the category of extreme skill or outlandish premise (that I would actually love to try), all in one way or another are very 'extreme', especially in comparison to the US varieties of football, baseball, etc. So, here's my top 20 most extreme and/or downright crazy sports in no particular ranked order, broken down into 4 categories: Altitude Sports, Water Sports, Animal Sports and Misc. Enjoy! It's fun to feel the thrill of living, even if just vicariously.
