For me, this was geared up to be the very best year for Super Bowl commercials to date. After seeing several sneak peaks of what was in store I was more than excited. After all, the best part of watching the game is getting to laugh a lot in between the seriousness of the sport. I will say I was not disappointed at all. Once the game got rolling the ads starting coming in left an right. I have compiled a list of my top 5 commercials to share.
I will start with my choice with my favorite this year:
Esurance- Say My NameNot only does this add strike me hilarious considering I'm a huge 'Breaking Bad' fan, but it's also original. And hilarious. It's referring to an inside joke of, "Say my name" from the show. Fans will understand, others will not. But he'll probably get an Emmy from it.
Next up will be my number 2:
Dodge- WisdomTo me this commercial was put together super well. It had a serious side that made you think. While towards the end I had a few laughs. It also was directed and edited very well. That's always a huge plus for me. It can make or break anything on film.
The Ad HereThird on my list will be:
Skittles- Settle ItThis ad wasn't wasn't anything super special, but it was funny to me. Skittles usually does fun things with their tv spots, so it wasn't a surprise that they did something great again this year.
The Ad HereI have to give the 4th slot to:
Toyota- How Great I am This one just caught my eye more than others. It goes back to my reasons for my number two choice. The message was great. It was put together very well. And just all around a great ad. Not much more to it other than that.
The Ad HereFifth on my list goes to:
Turbo Tax- Boston Tea PartyThis ad was just plain funny. Everything about it made me laugh. It was great to see something original and not a campaign.
The Ad HereMy bad apple of the bunch goes to:
TMobile- #KimKardashianI hate everything about this add. Not only because it makes of mockery of things in this world people should actually care about, but also because who the person is making it. That's all I would like to say about it without getting frustrated.
The Ad HereLastly, the commercial that caught a lot of media traction,
'Budweiser- Lost Dog'. I have said before and I'll say it again, the ad was OK. It wasn't great. It wasn't bad. It was exactly what we've come to expect from that campaign. I had heard and read in many places that this particular commercial was a tear jerker. I had heard that there wasn't going to be a dry seat in the house. But in all, it was just plain to me. This ad isn't quite in my top 5, nor do I think it deserves last. But I felt it worth mentioning.
