The first time Canelo Alvarez fought Gennady Golovkin (GGG), it ended in a controversial draw. Many say, myself included, that GGG won that fight. However, Canelo was saved that night by one generous scorecard that gave him a 118-110 advantage overall, with only 2 rounds going to GGG. Also this:

While Alvarez never hit the canvas, he did absorb a number of flush power shots while being cornered. Golovkin outlanded Alvarez, 218 to 169, according to CompuBox, and landed more punches overall in 10 of 12 rounds. He also landed more jabs, 108 to 55.

Then the second fight. Also very close. Just as entertaining, and this time there was a (satisfying and from my vantage correct) result: Canelo won in decision, 115-113, 115-113, 114-114.

Will post a reply/highlight video as soon as it surfaces. But for now, check out ESPN's reaction to the fight and let me know if you thought it was a Canelo win or not. These guys don't agree with me or the official results. Also if you think they should fight a 3rd time because that seems like a lock to me.

These 2 guys are seriously so close in talent I get why both of these fights are controversial and could be argued in 3 different ways: FOR Alvarez, FOR GGG, or a draw. I personally think it goes first fight - GGG, second fight Canelo. You?

I thought Golovkin barely won the first fight, and this fight was a draw. It's really annoying how subjective boxing is.. they need more scoring judges. 3 isn't nearly enough. And yeah, there will definitely be a 3rd fight. There has to be.

Maybe both were draws. I think the judges and boxing in general want Canelo to win out. So I think in both fights he got points he probly shouldn't have. I consider both of their fights even, with an eventual third fight being the tiebreaker.
