Luka's Thrilling 43-point Triple-Double (vs the Clippers)

This was one of the most exciting games I have watched in a long time. Talking about the First Round, Game 4 of the Mavs/Clippers 2020 Playoffs.

Luka was questionable coming in with a pretty nasty looking ankle injury from just less than 2 days prior, that sidelined him in the 4th quarter of game 3. And Kristaps was a late scratch for this game as well, with a sore knee.

So I had no idea what to expect. Then the Mavs got down as much as 21 points in the mid 3rd quarter and it looked like the game was all but put away. The Clippers just looked better, as most thought they were going into the series.

Then the Mavs turned it on. Went up as much as 12 points in the 4th and it was very stressful watching it come down to the last series in the 4th, all tied up. Leonard missed a tough shot and OT came.

At that point Luka already had a very impressive triple double. But once it was all said and done, he ended up with 43 points, 17 rebounds and 13 assists. Keep in mind, he is only 21 years old and this is only his 4th NBA playoff game ever. With 3.7 seconds to go, down by one in OT, he gets the inbound and nails a long three as the clock expires. Picture perfect ending.

Here's highlights of the game. Was really an amazing game to go back and watch in full. So many ups and downs. The Clippers are thought of as one of if not the very best in the league, and they played really well. The Mavs just outplayed them when it mattered. For everyone that says the Mavs aren't ready yet, just watch this game and think twice.

The Mavs are probably my favorite NBA team. It's hard to think of them as anything other than ready. And this was an excellent game. It's always fun to watch a straight up entertaining game, no matter who wins or loses. I care that they play and we get to see a good game.

Agreed. The Mavs are ready but they never got to play at 100% health, and I believe that's what did them in. Even in this playoff series, they took probably the best team in the league to 6 games without having Luka and Kristaps on the court together, for more than I think 4 minutes of the entire series! Not to mention losing a few key players to injury earlier in the season... look out for the Mavs to come on strong in 2021 and beyond, especially if they can get one more piece of the puzzle they desparately need - a strong defensive player. They need a Dennis Rodman type, to compliment and protect Luka (to MJ) and Porzingis (to Pippen). I know that duo is a LOONNNGGG way from those greats, but hey, the comparison does make sense.
