Here we go again. We have a fresh season of NHL hockey before us starting today. Wednesday marks the beginning of 116 consecutive days of hockey. I think this will be a great season. Everyone is well rested, fired up and ready to go.

The NHL power rankings were released and I must say this is the very first ranking list I entirely agree with. I wouldn't change a single team's placement. Although, seeing the Blackhawks at the bottom of everyone's rank list is disappointing, I agree with it. All they dynasty players are gone and there seems to be some issues with the coaching. Either way, here's the rankings for the start of the season. I'm only listing the top 15 here since the list is rather long:

    Tampa Bay Lightning

    Colorado Avalanche

Vegas Golden Knights (I think they may win the Stanley cup)

    Saint Louis Blues

    Washington Capitals

    Toronto maple Leafs

    Philadelphia Flyers

    Boston Bruins

    Dallas Stars

    New York Islanders

    Pittsburgh Penguins

    Edmonton Oilers

    Vancouver Canucks

    New York Rangers

On a related note, I think hockey will probably be the sport this year with the least amount of bumps in the road. It will be super easy to get all the players to wear the plastic face masks that attach to the helmet, considering a good amount of them already do. I'd think that would play a big role in keeping everyone a bit more safe than nothing at all.

Really glad to see the Dallas Stars somewhere in there. :) But yeah, I think this list is pretty solid. I'd be saying differently if Tampa and Washington weren't in the top 5 at least.

I think the Stars are going to do really well this year. I don't see them winning the Stanley Cup, but I definitely wouldn't underestimate them.
