We're now just days away from the McGregor vs Poirier fight! I'm crazy excited to see what happens here. Their first fight lasted a total of 3 minutes. And even thought Poirier contested that the fight shouldn't have been called, McGregor knocked Poirier out in the first round. The ref was 100% right to call that fight when he did. Poirier wasn't defending himself at all after falling face first on the matt, and McGregor isn't the type to just stop punching.
But now things are different. Both fighters have greatly matured both physically and mentally, and they've both had plenty of time to prepare for this fight. Poirier had a few new tools he showcased during the Khabib fight (which Khabib being the monster that he is quickly destroyed), and it turns out that McGregor can destroy you simply with his shoulders.
So I'm seeing alot of people saying this is the one. "This is the one that McGregor will lose". "Poirier is now a more well rounded fighter".
Nope. They're wrong. There's zero chance McGregor will lose this fight. Zero. Aside from the now retired Khabib, McGregor is the most well rounded fighter in the game right now and is just in a whole different category than Poirier. I'm going to guess Mcgregor will knock Poirier out in the mid-second round area.
Here's their first matchup incase you haven't seen it.
