So I'm having a bit of a dilemma about whether or not to pay for this so called "super-fight". I remember when I was really excited about about the Mayweather vs. Pacman fight, so I didn't hesitate whatsoever to pay the ridiculous $100 PPV price. And just to be clear, it is absolutely ridiculous for PPV to charge people that much. But I thought it'd be worth it.... It wasn't. And not only was that fight not worth the hundred bucks, but I also forgot that I had purchased it. So about a month later I was frustratingly reminded with a $150 cable bill. In hindsight, I should have thought further about what I'd actually be getting for the money.
And here we are again. They realized they could make hundreds of millions of dollars by promoting these "Once in a lifetime super-fights". So we are all in the same (now more cautious) position again. This is an instant cash cow for both fighters and the companies involved, so they could care less if the fight is over in less than a minute.
So what are everyone's thoughts on this? Are you going to a bar to take advantage of the lower head charge? We can only assume the at-home PPV cost will be around the $99.95 that it was for the May/Pac fight. Are you still planning on paying that even after what happened last time? And if you didn't watch the last one, are you OK with paying that to watch this one? I'm leaning towards passing on the fight and just watching it afterwards for free.
