I want to see Villanova take on Syracuse. The ratings for that would be absolutely terrible. And it would be bad for the NCAA. But wouldn't you rather see a #10 seed play a #2, over a #1/#2 matchup? I would.

I think this game will be way more of a even match than most think. Villanova isn't 4/64 left standing by coincidence. If they were to win, I won't be a bit surprised.

yeah, saw this NY Times vid about it. Pretty interesting.

    Let's see...

West Virginia, Baylor, Texas and Tech all lost.

ACC still has 6 in the tournament.
    Big Ten - 4.
    Pac-12 - 2.

SO really Big XII is the 3rd worst. But they still have Kansas and Oklahoma. Both could win, and that's all that really matters.

Also had Texas falling to UNI. VCU beating out Oregon State. Syracuse also beat Dayton. So brackets have basically been destroyed, for all those guys picking the lowest seeds across the board.

Probably my favorite game to watch though was Stephen F. Austin beating down West Virginia. That should be one of the best next games - SFA v Notre Dame. I did actually pick SFA to go to the Sweet 16. Looking good so far.

You can make the argument about a harder conference but that doesn't account for losses to 4 teams outside of the top 50. Apparently, that's a first for a number 1 seeded team.

    I don't get this either.

Michigan State beats Purdue, then they both get #2 seeds. And Virginia loses to UNC, and they both get #1 seeds. Math doesn't add up here.

Purdue gets University of Arkansas Little Rock in the first round. And Michigan State gets Middle Tennessee. Think at this point I'd rather be Purdue. Being a 5th seed too makes it a lot easier path than a #2 seed.

You never want to lose the last game (conf championship) before the tournament. But if they can keep it together, their path did become easier because of the loss.

ACC is a close second, maybe even tied. They have two #1 seeds with UNC and Virginia. No other conference can say that. And given that 12 of the last 17 champions were #1 seeds, I think the argument can be made that the winner will come from the ACC more likely than the Big 12.

Thought it was clear that the winners of the biggest conferences that have topped ap lists all year would all get #1 seeds. Didn't happen for Michigan State this year though.

Virginia took it from them. Then it was NC Tar Heels, Kansas and Oregon. Those 3 made sense. But I guess the committee just thought that the Cavs overall season was a better resume than Mich State winning the Big Ten conf championship.

    I disagree.

But I get the reasoning. Virginia has to contend with a harder conference. And Kansas being there, destroying almost everyone. But still. Whatever. Looks like Michigan State's potential road to the championship game is going to be a lot easier than what they would have been faced with , with a #1 seed. And really , at the end of the day, who cares about 1 v 2 seeding?

I think they lucked out. And might just sweep everyone because of it.
